It’s a story that contains true love, trauma of a broken heart, mental illness, imprisonment of one’s soul and lessons of life.
Amna Dhanani says,
“I went through my work trying to come up with a theme, I wrecked my brain for weeks until I saw a pattern for a story. I’ve arranged the poems in a way that each poem has a place in the flow, even though the order that I’ve made is fictional, I’ve not only felt but lived every word that is in here, some by me and some by others as I couldn’t stop myself from writing what my eyes saw, what my ears heard and what my heart felt through the pain of those around me. It often made my own existence suffer from their grief.
After the story, I’ve shared bits and pieces about my suffering and survival, ending on The Words chapter.”

This collection of poetry could have been a novel for sure and that, I say on solid grounds. One would definitely notice the flow of the book and the stories circulating inside like the planets revolve around the sun; which despite being the centre of attention, is still just a star in the vast solar system. You see, poetry can be anything. It can be the tears of joy when one feels overwhelmed with the sudden arrival of a loved one or the leftover footprints of the beloved who has long abandoned the premises of one’s heart.
It can be the late midnight talks when one bares the soul and sheds all the walls built around them for protection or the way one stares at the mirror, trying to comprehend why there’s always this longing for freedom when the eyes fail to come in terms with what has happened.
This book of about 10k words is something you wouldn’t want to put down before engraving it all in your mind, heart and soul.

The simplicity of the words and the depth they hold onto. You will find yourself letting out a sigh, poem after poem, a sigh of longing and satisfaction.
